Recognizing this, Locatour Indonesia has taken a concrete step to act not just as a tour operator, but as a bridge of kindness between travelers and the local community.
The Perfect Moment: A Ramadan of Giving
This initiative was carried out on February 28, coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan. It was a deeply moving moment, as Ramadan is a time for reflection, gratitude, and, most importantly, sharing with those in need. Delivering these supplies during this sacred period added a profound sense of hope and togetherness for both the recipients and our team.
Boundless Compassion from Our Friends in Australia
This humanitarian effort was made possible by the incredible generosity of our guests and their community in Australia. Through a passionate fundraising campaign, a total donation of approximately IDR 11,000,000 (Eleven Million Rupiah) was raised.
To ensure the impact reached even further, we chose to empower local businesses. All essential food supplies and stationery were purchased directly from local shops and traditional markets (Pasar Sembako) in the surrounding area. By doing this, the donation did more than just provide aid; it also stimulated the local economy, involving and benefiting the neighborhood traders during these challenging times.
The aid packages included:
• Essential Food Supplies (Sembako): To help meet the daily nutritional needs of affected families during the fasting month.
• Stationery & School Supplies: To ensure that children in the affected areas can return to their studies with enthusiasm.
• Baby Essentials: Including formula, diapers, and nutritional supplements for the little ones.
• Women’s Hygiene Products: Providing necessary sanitary kits to ensure health and dignity for women in the displacement camps or Shelter.
Why Supiturang Village?
The choice of Supiturang Village was deeply intentional. This village is one of the areas most severely impacted by the Semeru cold lava floods, with many residents losing their homes and belongings.
Furthermore, Supiturang is geographically aligned with our flagship destination: Tumpak Sewu Waterfall. As a tour provider operating in this region, we feel a moral responsibility to support the community that is such a vital part of our tourism ecosystem.
